Honey Aoud

Montale's Honey Aoud (2015) is a dense oriental vanilla composed by Pierre Monta. The note pyramid opens with an unusual top-loaded structure: honey, agarwood (oud), cinnamon, amber, Madagascar vanilla, leather, patchouli, and flowers all appear at the top. There are no listed heart or base notes, so the opening is effectively the whole arc. The main accords confirm the emphasis: honey at 100%, oud at 94%, warm spicy and cinnamon both at 82%, sweet at 71%, and amber at 65%. This is not a light floral honey; it is a thick, resinous, animalic-sweet oud with a cinnamon bite and a leathery-patchouli undertow. The vanilla and amber round the edges but never soften the core. Collectors who enjoy Montale's oud-forward style, or who seek a honey note with real weight and persistence, will find this satisfying.
