Privacy
What this site collects, and what it deliberately does not.
The short version
Perfume Codex is a static reference site. There is no user account system, no newsletter sign-up on article pages, no advertising network and no third-party tracking pixel on any page. Reading the database does not require identifying yourself.
What is collected
- Server logs. Standard request logs retained by our hosting provider, including IP address, user agent and requested path. These exist for security and capacity planning and are retained for a limited period.
- Aggregate analytics. Page-level counts without cross-site identifiers or advertising cookies. We do not build behavioural profiles and we do not sell traffic data — selling it would contradict the entire premise of this site.
- Email you send us. If you write to us, we keep the correspondence and use it only to answer you and, where relevant, to correct the record.
What is not collected
- No advertising identifiers and no advertising network is present on this site.
- No account, profile or purchase data — there is nothing to purchase here.
- No resale or sharing of visitor data with third parties for marketing.
Third parties
The site is served through a content delivery network, which necessarily processes requests in order to deliver pages. Fonts and images are served from our own domain rather than from third-party font or image hosts, so reading a page does not notify any third party of your visit.
Your rights
If you are in a jurisdiction with data protection rights — including Hong Kong under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, and the EU/UK under GDPR — you may ask what personal data we hold about you, request correction, or request erasure. In practice, for almost all visitors, the answer is that we hold nothing beyond a transient server log. Write to hello@perfumecodex.com.

This policy is updated when the site changes in a way that affects it. The current version is the one published on this page.
