Ombre de Hyacinth

Ombre de Hyacinth arrived in 2012 as part of Tom Ford's Private Blend, composed by Calice Becker. The opening pairs violet leaf with galbanum, giving a sharp, sappy greenness before the heart unfolds: hyacinth in full, lifted by pink pepper and grounded with jasmine. The base returns to galbanum alongside musk and benzoin, so the green thread runs from first spray to drydown rather than fading into sweetness. Collectors should note the doubled galbanum — it reads bitter, resinous and unmistakably stem-like rather than soft or powdery.

With green at the top of its accord profile and floral, ozonic and aquatic facets beneath, this is a cool, dewy, almost garden-after-rain composition rather than a warm bouquet.
