About this fragrance

Written from the structured record above — note pyramid, accord weights, perfumer credit and era.

Cinéma Festival arrived in 2006 as a limited flanker to YSL's 2004 Cinéma, and for collectors it reads as the brighter, more daylight-facing sibling. The opening is unusually citrus-forward for an oriental floral: Italian lemon and mandarin orange come out sharp and sparkling, softened by a whisper of almond blossom rather than the creamy almond of the original. That citrus dominance (the accord breakdown puts it at the top) makes the first twenty minutes feel almost cologne-like before the composition settles.

The heart turns properly floral, with tiare flower lending a faint tropical roundness alongside jasmine and amaryllis. The base is where it rejoins the family: vanilla, amber and white musk give a soft, sweet-musky pillow that stays close to skin. Because the citrus never fully disappears, this suits collectors who find classic orientals too heavy in warm weather, or anyone wanting a light evening scent that won't overwhelm a small room. Seek out sealed or well-stored bottles, as the lemon top is the first thing to fade with age.

A batch code cannot prove authenticity on its own, but it can expose contradictions — a code that decodes to a date before the fragrance existed, or a bottle and box that disagree.
