Black Opium without

Black Opium arrived in 2014 as YSL's answer to the gourmand wave, built on an Oriental Vanilla frame that leans hard into vanilla (the dominant accord) and coffee. The opening is bright and slightly sharp: pear and pink pepper over orange blossom, giving a fizzy lift before the heart turns darker. There, coffee and jasmine meet bitter almond and licorice — a bittersweet, lightly anisic middle that keeps the sweetness from going flat. The base settles into vanilla, patchouli, cashmere wood and cedar, warm and softly woody with a faint earthy edge from the patchouli.

Collectors should note this is a modern designer release rather than a vintage rarity, but early bottles are increasingly sought after as reformulations accumulate. It suits wearers who want a sweet, coffee-tinged evening scent with decent projection, and it layers well in cool weather. Those who dislike gourmand sweetness or prominent patchouli should sample first; the licorice and almond divide opinion. A solid reference point for the 2010s Oriental Vanilla genre.

呢支係近代設計師香水，唔算古董珍品，但早期批次隨住改版愈來愈受收藏者留意。適合鍾意甜中帶咖啡、想要晚間用、擴香度夠嘅人；秋冬天氣用尤其合適。怕甜膩或者唔鍾意廣藿香嘅話，建議先試香，因為甘草同杏仁嘅組合評價兩極。作為 2010 年代東方香草調嘅參考樣本，值得一試。
