Inoui dip

Inoui dip arrived in 1976, a Shiseido chypre built on a stark green-aromatic frame. The opening is bracing and vegetal: galbanum and juniper cut through Amalfi lemon, with peach softening the edge just enough to keep it wearable. Collectors should expect the galbanum to lead, not the fruit.

The heart turns resinous and herbal — pine and thyme over freesia and jasmine — before settling into a base of oak moss, Virginia cedar, myrrh and civetta. The mossy-woody drydown is where this composition earns its keep, and the aromatic and woody accords dominate throughout. It suits collectors who favour austere, old-school chypres over sweet or powdery styles, and it wears best in cool weather or formal settings. Given its age and discontinued status, expect variability between bottles; check fill level and storage before buying.
