Hiris arrived in 1999 as Hermès' first major iris soliflore, composed before the note became a niche staple. The opening pairs iris with coriander, carnation and amber—a dry, spicy-floral overture that quickly turns rooty and cool. The heart doubles down on iris, softened by neroli and rose, while the base grounds it with cedar, almond tree, honey and vanilla. The result is powdery but never sweet, earthy but never dirty: a green, woody iris with a faint violet-like chill.
