Jardin d'Interdit opens on a bright, juicy trio of kiwi, cranberry and pear — the cranberry lending a tart edge that keeps the fruit from turning candied. The heart shifts toward rose hip, peach blossom, rose and red berries, where the rose is clearly the anchor; the berry notes read as a soft, jammy echo rather than a sharp accent. In the base, sandalwood gives a dry, creamy floor while orchid and heliotrope add a powdery, slightly almond-sweet finish that lingers close to the skin.

As a 2006 Givenchy release now discontinued, this suits collectors drawn to fruity-florals with a powdery backbone — those who find modern fruity scents too loud will appreciate its softer, rounder construction.
